My first 1/2 Aug. 9, 2008 2:16.12

2008- I ran a 10K and a couple of 5K's  I guess you could say I'm a newborn runner.

2009- Finished the Hobble Creek 1/2 and the Provo River 1/2  And have done 3 more 5k's

2010 Got my PR with the Salt Lake City 1/2 marathon!!

2010 Ran my first marathon!! TOU! Woo Woo!

2011 ran the Salt Lake 1/2 with my brother. Then a few 5k's

2012  Salmon Marathon
 

 

 

Short-Term Running Goals:

Maybe run a few more marathons?? Stay healthy, motivated and consistent.  Races are fun, but unlike the hokey pokey, its not what its all about for me.  Its about health, sanity and feeling great about myself bc I can call myself a runner. :)

I had an awesome run, The only thing I can think is different from the past few months is I ate a banana. I used to do that all the time but I quit doing it bc i read that it takes 30 minutes to get into your system. So if Im only going for 30 or 40 min. I dont eat one anymore. Maybe I need to quit believing everything I read.

I didnt wear my garmin today which is a bummer bc I would be curious what my time was today. So even though it was only 3 miles, It was a good one and I needed that.

FINALLY!! holy crap, its been a long time since ive gone 5. My splits were pretty slow but I dont care, I need to get out of the rut ive been in. Not to jinx it, but I think I may be on my way back. Lets hope so. Ate a banana before again and that was good. I got a little tingly in my head at about 4.3 but it went away quickly.  And JD, I hate bowling.

felt good, still slow splits but again I dont care. Im just happy im getting out there. I love running in the cooler weather. I dont like running on a dark, cold, snowy morning though. Im going to have to start getting up early again soon though. I cant spend everyday waiting to go run. But for now, its ok. Kids have been out of school for 5 days for fall break, they go back tmrw which is good bc im feeling a bit smothered.

it is sooo freakin cold out there! My face is numb. It took my hands a good 2 miles to be warm enough to come out of my sleeves. It started out really dark and by the end it was light enough that I felt comfortable turning my music up.
Felt good, nice to have it over with.

A beautiful fall day out there. Good break from making tutu's and wings, and joker pants and dying sweats for halloween coustumes. Good music on the ipod today, blue sky, cool temp, wearing shorts, good run. Happy day.

Had to go for a really quick run today. Have to pick up one son in a 1/2 hr. and then go back to the school for my other sons VIP day, following that, I have ten 6yr. olds coming to my house for a birthday party and after that we are going out with some friends to dinner. So I had to take some "Lysa" time, even if it was short and sweet.

busy birthday weekened with parties and many people in and out of my house = sick worn out mom

So I ended up going on a 2 mile speed walk bc although I dont feel good, I also feel restless and ancy. I dont know if its the medication or what but I just knew I had to do something. I know you're supposed to rest when you are sick but sometimes I think getting out helps even more.

I woke up feeling soo much better today. I have to tend my neice this afternoon at the same time I usually have to go running so I dont know If I will fit one in today. Im thinking of taking her on a speed walk though so I will do that and then see how the kids are after school and see if I can sneak away for a quick run. Not sure how far I can go bc I still feel tired from being sick, but I know it would be good for me. Hope you all have a good run today.

Went a whoppin 3. Still feeling not 100%, but I am feeling better. My friend brought me over the "Chi Running" DVD and I really like it. I know my posture is horrible and that is making me slowdown considerably. I like the DVD bc Its all visual and Im a visual learner. I could read this same stuff in a book and not really get it until I see it done, so its great. I stopped several times today and did a posture check and a lean check. I really can feel the difference when Im doing it right. Now for the tricky part, .. making it a habit.

Got up at 4:20 to run with my Chi running friend. She has to work early so we had to leave early. The point of the run was to concentrate on our chi and watch each others leans and posture. We stopped a few times and checked our posture by doing pole leans. We also ran to a metronome. The Chi guy recommends we set it at 90 but there is so much to think about and so much to concentrate on, that we set it at 80. With every beat our right arm would swing backwards. I did notice that when I was concentrating on the beat and my right arm, my feet felt lighter. But when I try and concentrate on posture, my feet feel heavy again. Its going to be tricky to get the balance and Im thinking it is going to take several months to get it reallly down. My body and mind has to rethink the way that I move and become that habit rather than my  habits now. It is going to take body and mind memorization but I know it will pay off, bc when I get those glimpes of doing it right, It feels really good.

So now I sit here in the dark drinking my herbal orange tea trying to warm up and it really is peaceful. Soon I will hear the pitter patter of feet upstairs and then the rest of the day will be noisey. There is something to getting up early isnt there?

I wish I could say I went further but then I would be lying. Nice run though, worked more on lifting up my feet and leaning. I go much faster when I just lift my feet just a little bit more, but in turn that makes me tired more quickly. Its all good though. Its just a juggling act, thats all it is.

little 3 miler jaunt. And since I'm now a jugallo by profession, Im getting better at the juggling act. Feels pretty good, although Im having a hard time typing right now bc my hands are still cold. Nice wintery day out there. Gorgeous with the colored leaves and the snow though.

yesterday I was on loritab bc I had some cancer spots burned off my face. I know that may sound extreme {the loritab i mean} but I hate the pain of that soo bad and it causes me serious anxiety. So I was too out of it to run  for awhile and then I was just ornery coming off of it so I went to bed and then got ready for a Halloween party. So no run. Today I squeezed in a 3 miler. My splits were faster than normal. And by fast, I know its not compared to all of you but for me it was. I was 9:21, 9:28 and 9:17. I really think its the chi. Just being aware of my form and posture just naturally speeds your body up even without trying. Now I have to go get my kids ready for another Halloween party, followed by another Halloween party tonight, and tomorrow is really Halloween and sunday I think I may burn everything Halloween.

Beautiful day, felt good until mile 3.5, I was running up a hill and had the sudden urge to have a potty break so I had to stop and walk for awhile, Doesnt help that Ive eaten chili 3 nights in a row at Halloween parties. So the last mile was a run/walk until I could get home.

Glad I got a run in today though, should help everything else go smoothly today.
