Short-Term Running Goals:

Maybe run a few more marathons?? Stay healthy, motivated and consistent.  Races are fun, but unlike the hokey pokey, its not what its all about for me.  Its about health, sanity and feeling great about myself bc I can call myself a runner. :)

Had to hurry so I can drive my son to his game. 9:30 avg. Felt pretty good, wish I had more time to keep going. Ironic isn't it? Thinking about Stacie and Jeff a lot, hope its going well for them.

Today's non-run is for the greater good.

Going on day three without a diet coke. I have been in a detox headache fog for the last two days. I woke up slightly foggy today but much better. That's why yesterdays non-run was for the greater good. I'm not saying that I'm never going to drink another diet coke again. That just simply is not an option for my brain to wrap around right now. What my goal in this is to be over the caffeine addiction. To not Need a diet coke to wake up and get me through the day, but rather have one in the afternoon once in awhile as a treat. 14 years ago I quit coffee, alcohol and cigarettes and could not handle having no vice to turn to. So naturally bc I grew up with a family addicted to coke, I turned to that. I have quit DC a few times over the years but it never lasts. I hope that this time I can really change the way I look at it and it will be successful. I just hope to not HAVE to have something to put in my body to function for the first time in many many years. I hate and hesitate to say any of this out loud though bc I'm such a weakling. Maybe saying it out loud will help me though. In the end If I turn out to be weak, don't judge me. :)

Run was rainy and cold but good.

Didn't care if I ran today really. Feel out of it and it was cold outside. Then Stacie sent me a text while I was driving home from Costco and asked if I wanted to run a few around the hood with her. It was perfect. Fun to go talk to her, Fun to run with her, and great just to go for a quick little run. Thanks for asking Stacie, it was just what I needed.

The garmin said I did better than I thought I was doing so that's a bonus. Beautiful temps. A lady stopped me to ask directions, pretty exciting. good times.

Everyday I think I'm going to go on a long run and when I get out there I don't feel well. My daughter is home sick again so my body might be trying to fight something also. I hope I don't get what she has, she's been miserable since Monday. I really need to go run down Millcreek to see the leaves before the snow takes over the top and they close it. Anyone up for that sometime soon? good times

Yesterday I tweaked my lower back and I was walking around like a 90 yr. old woman with bad osteoporosis. Today when I woke up it felt better but still feeling it. Very slow 4 miler. Needed to go and clear my head a little. Felt good even though it wasn't great. Good times.

Ran around the neighborhood a little and then the hills at Flat Iron Park. Pretty day out there. Stood at the top of the park for awhile and just checked out the scenery. We live in a beautiful state.

Met JD at the park and ride and Scott drove us to the top of Millcreek Canyon so we could run down it. It was AWESOME.  That canyon makes me happy. Beautiful scenery, good conversation, great temps, perfect way to wake up on a Saturday morning. The canyon was a bit brutal on the body. Steep in sections, definitely going to be feeling it tomorrow, but worth it. We kept a good pace until I bonked at the end. :) The canyon was 9.5 miles and then JD made us run around the parking lot until the garmin hit 10. Which I'm grateful for but this is where I bonked and slowed our pace way down. Ended up with a 8:51 avg. Overall, super duper fun morning. Thank You JD for driving that far and meeting me to do that. I had a lot of fun! You rock.

YOGA. I'm embarrassed to say that I still can't walk down my stairs after Saturday's run with JD. Just goes to show you our completely opposite fitness levels. I actually put on the running shoes, went outside to try, got down my street and ouch. Kind of impossible to run without putting any pressure on your legs. Seriously kind of ashamed of this. The only peace I get from it is that I know I ran faster for 10 miles than I ever have before. Even if it was all downhill. Oh well. Good times and now I'm going to make sugar cookies and try not to eat any.

Started out pretty cold. Even the clouds looked cold. Coming back down NC the sun came out and was on my back, that felt good. Saw my brother driving, honk wave. Good times. p
