My first 1/2 Aug. 9, 2008 2:16.12

2008- I ran a 10K and a couple of 5K's  I guess you could say I'm a newborn runner.

2009- Finished the Hobble Creek 1/2 and the Provo River 1/2  And have done 3 more 5k's

2010 Got my PR with the Salt Lake City 1/2 marathon!!

2010 Ran my first marathon!! TOU! Woo Woo!

2011 ran the Salt Lake 1/2 with my brother. Then a few 5k's

2012  Salmon Marathon
 

 

 

Short-Term Running Goals:

Maybe run a few more marathons?? Stay healthy, motivated and consistent.  Races are fun, but unlike the hokey pokey, its not what its all about for me.  Its about health, sanity and feeling great about myself bc I can call myself a runner. :)

Schools back in finally!! Hooray!! Except I have a sick child home with the flu..BooHoo.. When I left, she was sick in bed so I told her I would hurry..when I got home, she was standing here waiting for me dressed and ready to go..So bummer I cut my run short, But Horray she is leaving and I get to finally be alone again after two weeks!! I guess I could go back out..but its just soo cold!!! waaaaa {whiney voice}

Edit: Although her effort was good, she didn't make it. We are back home with her in bed again..Boo Hoo.

Kind of a Bi-polar entry wasn't it.

Nice to be out there. The main roads are pretty much pavement again but the side roads are still like running in sand. Ive been staring at the 4 walls of my bedroom for three days now waiting for our furnace to be fixed again on the main floor. Its not too bad when I'm here alone, but when the kids are here and we're all trying to hang out in my bedroom, it gets a little stir crazy. Cross your fingers that the motor is back tonight and we can get back to normal. Anyway, good run. Butt cold with condensation hitting my face. Happy Running.

It felt extra cold today when I started out. I wondered if I would cut the run short bc I was feeling like a wimp with the ice breeze on my face. But the sun came around and it was a welcome sight. Ran up past the buffalo and back down, then up the hill on Highland. I kicked that hills arse too. Me and Teenage Wasteland on the ipod showed that hill who was boss. Anyway, ended up feeling really good, turned out to be one of those Good runs.

Feels good to come home to a warm house. Happy Running.

I made Scott go with me for awhile today. He ran 2 miles and then turned around. So his total was 3. Having him with me made me run faster though. Bc I know it is physically hard for him to go as slow as I do so I felt pressure to go faster. I guess I should make him go with me more often. Although, I doubt I could keep that up for a long time. Anyway, then my pace slowed after he left for a couple of miles and in the end I stepped it back up to try and get back to where I started. It was successful. So thats good. Felt good today, happy running.

I had to go later today due to an ortho. apt. for my girls this morning. Still not feeling so great, actually I thought my energy level was up until I started running and then I was just feeling sluggish. Surprisingly though my first and last miles were faster than they felt so that's good. Felt good to get the heartrate up anyway even if it was short.

Ran around the hood, up Newcastle, right at the stop sign and down Falcon, up the hill by the park and home. Felt good. Couldn't decide if it felt warmer or the same. Sometimes I was warm, other times the cold air on my face felt extra cold. Whatever. Happy running.

around hood, up NC right at stop sign past 9400 up the big hill, down 9800 back up highland and home. SUNNY!! HOORAY!! While I was running, I remembered it's Scott's birthday tomorrow and all the sudden I panicked. I have NO idea what to get him. Now I need to go figure it out. Poo. I hate going to stores when I don't know what I'm going for.

I can explain. I got about 1.3 miles into it and I started to feel light headed and shaky. My legs felt like they were going to give out. It is some kind of glycemic reaction. It has happened to me before but never during a run. I tried to run home but had to walk a bit bc my legs felt tingly. Anyway, Its Scott's birthday today and so I got a late start out anyway. I ate some cereal and drank some juice and now I feel better, but I don't think I will go back out today. I have some errands to run and its early day from school. So better luck tomorrow!

Went on the dimple dell horse trail with Scott for the first 3 miles. It was hard running through the snow, I worry about rolling my ankle or something bc I'm not used to it. But I could feel muscles working that I don't normally feel so that was good. Then Scott drove home and I ran the long way home. Felt really good, I was happy to be back on asphalt and I was so happy to be running in warm weather.

My arch on my right foot was hurting on and off. What is that? I think its bc I haven't been putting my inserts in the Brooks when I run on those. I guess I better start doing it. Anyway, Happy Running!!

I hardly had any sleep last night bc my son was having nightmares and got into bed with us. He cuddles right in to me so I can't move. Which I love/hate. So I was sleeping my hardest when my alarm went off this morning. I was going to meet some girls for breakfast and so I woke up in a stupor and feeling really hungover. I really didn't think after my food coma if I could go run today. But that weather is so awesome, how do you resist it? It actually felt better than I anticipated & so I was happy I made the effort. Happy Running.

Today I did Yoga. I wasn't in the mood to run in the slush. Or to run for that matter. I just wasn't. I'm sure it wasn't bad out there, I just wasn't in the mood. Anyway, Happy yoga..and happy running to those of you who did it.

Felt really tired yesterday and woke up sick today. Headache, chills, tired, just not good. So it looks like this is turning out to be a bad week for me {running wise} but what can you do? I think I'll just do some more Emo posts.. Oh, my life is a depressing ball of waste. Nothing to live for but my black clothes and my depeche mode music. ho hum..

No really...HAPPY RUNNING TO ALL OF YOU! Go get miles for me will ya? That would be great. Thank you!

I finally feel good today. Went to a funeral which was an all day event. Came home, grocery store, cleaning, and now I'm in jammies. Funerals are exhausting. {It was my uncle growing up. He and my aunt have since divorced, but he took his own life on Jan. 4th. They couldn't find his body for a week, then they had to wait for his kids to get back in town. Sad.}

I decided to wait until it was snowing as hard as it could before I went out today. It was nice actually, except my heels kept getting a build up of snow so it felt like I was in high heels. I would have to do a little dance to get it off and then continue on for awhile til it happened again. That and I couldn't see. But who needs to see ?

I ran my 2nd and 3rd miles extra fast. Trying to step it up a bit. Felt good except I got a little nauseous for a minute. That's good though right? happy snowy running.

Ran the first two miles pretty slow. 10:07, 10:17. I wondered at this point if I would be able to push it bc I felt slow and dragging.  Then I ran up New Castle at 9:54 {which is good for me. Bc its a slight uphill, I usually just stay where its comfortable & I pushed it today.  Which I have done in the past, I just don't make it a daily habit. {need to change that.}Then ran back home at 9:12 and 9:15. Which the last two felt comfortable & really goood bc it wasn't uphill. So I know that sounds like crawling to some of you, but to me that's pretty good. Happy Running.

Have to run errands and then I'm going to do weights for the R.S. arms. And Allie has inspired me to do planks. I need to build up my time on that bc I can barely make it a minute. She is up to 4 or so! That is amazing to me.

probably the slowest 8 miles I have ever run aside from my marathon. I just kept waiting for the energy but it never happened.

Ran around hood, up N.C. to the trail, up to Wasatch, down 9400S. up Highland and home.

9:50, 9:54, 11:17 {stopped to stretch my ankle, forgot to stop the garmin},9:37, 9:14, 9:21

Do I count the last one even though it wasn't a full mile? Probably not.

My friend gave me her treadmill. So now I have a broken treadmill and a working one. I got a cold yesterday, it's just in my head so its not so bad. But I was happy to have the treadmill. I did three miles, for awhile I did one minute slow and then one minute sprints. It was easy at first and by the end, I had to grab hold of the rail so I wouldn't fall off the back. I could barely keep up with it. Then I did weights and plank. Plank is SO hard! My core is mush.  I know I can rebuild it, I just never have made that a priority. My upper stomach feels strong, but my lower is ridiculous. Anyway, happy running.
