Maybe run a few more marathons?? Stay healthy, motivated and consistent.  Races are fun, but unlike the hokey pokey, its not what its all about for me.  Its about health, sanity and feeling great about myself bc I can call myself a runner. :)

Ran along 7th east again. Erin and Becca came, Becca did 8 and Erin and I did 10. I felt great until 7 and then my stomache started to bug me so I slowed down considerably. I started having bad mental thoughts and then at mile 8 two guys ran up along side of me and started talking, they were running 15 and had alot of energy so after running with them for just a few minutes, I got a bit of a second wind. I was happy bc I thought if I feel like this at only mile 7 next week, im going to have a hard time. I know its so mental, so I just started trying to have positive thoughts and then suddenly I was back at my car. Anyway, Im a little nervous bc if I run like I did today, im only going to knock about 3 minutes off of my time and I wanted to do better than that. I hate that I care about time now, it used to be just about finishing. Now all of the sudden I have all these expectations for myself and Its too much pressure!!aaahhhh!

great job on finding the second wind and finishing strong. that should be a great confidence builder for your race. if you are struggling, just think back to this workout and remember that you overcame then, so you can do it now.

the expectations and pressure are good things, as long as they don't get out of hand. racing ourselves and trying to get better is what keeps the fire alive in running. but i totally understand how you feel! i am always saying "it's just for fun" but then i get all hyped up about it. hahaha. well, i think i have left a long enough post. sorry to invade you blog :)

best of luck at your race, i think you are going to do great!

You ran TWICE as far as I did today!

You know, a three minute PR is really good for a half marathon...not that it matters...it's just for fun after all...don't get too worked up about it...you're going to do great...no need to be nervous...is Aaron or Scott running...if they are, I might come run it too...not that it matters...I wouldn't race them or anything...it would just be for fun...I want to kick Aaron's butt...

Allie, thanks, you're right, I need to remeber my training and realize I can do it, and not give up when im feeling burned out. I need to just wait for that second wind to happen. Thanks for the advice, it really helps to have other peoples support who are stronger and better than me. I feel like I have some good teachers on here.

James, you should come run it! But neither Aaron or Scott are doing it. And ya, its just for fun... ya right! Its much more than that and we both know it!

Well, I know it's a good habit...
