Short-Term Running Goals:

Maybe run a few more marathons?? Stay healthy, motivated and consistent.  Races are fun, but unlike the hokey pokey, its not what its all about for me.  Its about health, sanity and feeling great about myself bc I can call myself a runner. :)

Nice cross training today. If you have an itch to run tomorrow or Friday, it might do you good to run an easy mile or two to help you relax. You are going to do really well Saturday. The weather might be cooler too, which will help.

Okay, I am so behind. Which race are you running???

I agree with JD. I have found it very helpful to run the day before a race, slow and super flat and easy. And not very long---maybe 2-3 miles is all.

okay, i will take your advice and run an easy one before saturday. But I do have to say it makes me nervous bc i usually feel better and stronger when I rest the day before a longer run. Maybe its different with a race.

Kelli, im running the provo river 1/2 marathon. Its my 2nd 1/2 and its also the same one I did the first time. I thought I would be less nervous this time but im not! I wake up with butterflies every morning! I realize its not a marathon and It may not seem like that big of deal to you guys, but to me its still a really big deal! I think im just a big wuss! I know, I know, I will be fine. I dont know what my problem is. But if you say that an easy one on friday will calm my nerves, I will give it a try.

I'm not saying you should run. Just that if you're going nuts with nervous energy, a short easy run will probably do you more good than harm. Either way, you've trained really well, so you should do what gives you the most confidence.

DON'T follow my advice!!! IF you feel better on a long run when you have taken Friday off, take the day off!! I found that I felt super sluggsih on long runs when i took Fridays off, so I experimented and in the end decided shorter, slower, super easy running on Friday made me feel better on the long runs.

DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck! I totally forgot about that race being this weekend. I hope the weather is nice and cool for ya, it is supposed to be low 80's for a nice change.
