Short-Term Running Goals:

Maybe run a few more marathons?? Stay healthy, motivated and consistent.  Races are fun, but unlike the hokey pokey, its not what its all about for me.  Its about health, sanity and feeling great about myself bc I can call myself a runner. :)

Pretty slow splits due to rough terrain. But when I was running through the snow I felt like Rocky when he's training to fight the Russian so that was cool. Went to a family party last night and as I mingled around the room from one person to the other I would get "So are you still running?" or "Are you going to run another marathon?" or Have you ever done a Tri.?" Or "when I tried running this one time..." Apparently thats all anyone knows what to talk to me about. Anyway, Have a HAPPY SAFE NEW YEARS EVE EVERYONE!!

I know what you mean. The family I see only during the holidays always ask about running. Every year there are one or two who express a great desire to take it up, but they never do. It makes me that much more grateful that I have developed this habit.

Nice mileage this week!

U R A-MA-ZING! Great week! I hate when people ask me if i'm still running. I like a response I heard on SLRC facebook thingy which was "Are you still sitting on the couch?" I also want to say..."No, I just wanted to try it out for a few years but now I'm done." DUH! Of course I'm still running!

Lol Stacie! "Nah, I quit. It felt to good and was too healthy so I gave it up."

It gets that way with running, I had to chew my husband out and tell him there was more to me than just running and to stop talking about it already. Now he does not even dare to bring it up---that is how scary I am!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Were your calves so sore after your run? Running in the snow kills my calves (and ankles). I am a wimp.

Kelli, thats funny. I do love talking about running but just not always and to everyone ya know? I always feel bad or the non-runner that is among all the runners in conversation. It must be so boring for them, I try to be sensitive to it.

Anyway, Yes, my calves were sore from running in the snow, but I liked it. I felt like it used different muscles which always makes me happy.

JD and Stacie "ya, running just ended up being too much happiness for me, just couldn't take it anymore."

Whenever the conversation turn to running at our family parties, my little sister shouts "rainbows" and storms off. It is some sort of inside joke between her and her husband.

We have the blog to talk about running, we do not need it everywhere else, right? I do not mind a little running talk here and there, it is a BIG hobby, but I hate it when that is all people can talk about.

SO, how is the weather? How are your kids? Watcha doin' tomorrow? ;o)

From Lysa on Mon, Jan 03, 2011 at 12:21:57 from 50.8.107.35

See thats what I mean..about your sister. If I'm among other runners, I will talk about it all day long. But as soon as a non-runner is in the room..well I'm sure it just gets old for them. However, if they only knew what it did for you they wouldn't wait one more second to jump on the wagon! I guess thats the frustrating thing. They don't understand the magic in it and no matter how much you talk about it, they just won't get it. Anyway..kids are fine..weather is chilly..you?? haha

Weather is frustrating, kids are frustrating.....

I hear ya, though. My sister gets all bent out of shape and i tell her, "Hey, we have running in common, it is something we do, so of course we are going to talk about it! You do not have to listen!!!" But I love my sister and drag her to the gym every once in a while, she just hates running!
