Met Stacie and her daughter came with us again. We talked marathon the entire time. Trying to figure out wardrobe, packets, time etc. I think we are both just consumed with it at this point. What else is there to talk about? I can't seem to think of anything else right now.

It is a good thing to be consumed with right now!! All will be great....still waiting on the wardrobe update so I can hunt you two down.

How is the head? I get those sleep deprivation headaches as well, especially when I worked full time (maybe a combination of tension from 30 6th graders tormenting me all day, I dunno). With the marathon coming up, drink LOTS and LOTS of fluids every day. That headache can get really bad if you are dehydrated.

Listen to Kelli's words of wisdom, good advice. The more prepared you are going into marathon day the better you'll feel.

From Stacie on Tue, Sep 14, 2010 at 15:13:57 from 174.52.21.251

Well, not the ENTIRE time:) I figured out Sunday what I'm wearing. White visor, my blue Ragnar (run, drive, sleep? repeat)shirt, but you won't see that till later (JD maybe) cause I'll start with a long-sleeved turquoise shirt over the top that I'm ditching. Pinkish/purple kid gloves and black shorts. My sister-in-law wore her bathrobe at the top last year:)

From Kim on Tue, Sep 14, 2010 at 15:22:13 from 67.199.180.90

Good luck on your marathon! I'm excited to hear about it!

From Lysa on Tue, Sep 14, 2010 at 15:53:39 from 174.52.25.64

I was going to try and wear a new tank top but I can't find one I like so I will be in my same old one I wear at every race, and that is a black one with black shorts. I will be in a black fleece top and black fleece pants at the top. I plan on ditching that in a dropbag and will wear a long sleeve yellow t-shirt when the race starts until I strip that down on the side of the road and am just in my tank. I know. I am making it hard wearing all black, what will you be wearing Kelli?

From Lysa on Tue, Sep 14, 2010 at 15:53:50 from 174.52.25.64

What will you be wearing JD?

From Lysa on Tue, Sep 14, 2010 at 16:36:23 from 174.52.25.64

btw Kelli and Stacie, I don't plan on running fast. Especially at the beginning. I don't want to start out too quickly and pay for it later. So I think that the two of you are better suited with each other. I don't want to be a party pooper but I do want to be smart. I know my own body and I know I will burn out if I try to keep up with you guys. I plan on taking it slow. Maybe even the whole time, and guess what?? I have become okay with that. :)

From Stacie on Tue, Sep 14, 2010 at 17:02:51 from 174.52.21.251

k. wait. I don't want to freeze at the top so I'm gonna wear blue fleece on top and black and gray polka-dotted fleece pants on bottom to put in drop bag:) like you're gonna remember all this. I was just reading the letter they sent and they'll have boxes for clothes at the aids stations too.

Lys-was the beginning of Hobble Creek too fast? I wasn't planning on going fast in the beginning. I do plan on keeping it under 10 though. We'll see how I feel.

From Stacie on Tue, Sep 14, 2010 at 17:04:20 from 174.52.21.251

I think you should just continue stripping and ditching all the way to the finish:) You'd be easy to spot.

From JD on Tue, Sep 14, 2010 at 17:05:16 from 70.96.78.157

I decided to take after Lady Gaga and wear a meat dress. Should be easy to spot me.

From Lysa on Tue, Sep 14, 2010 at 19:03:39 from 174.52.25.64

JD, I saw her meat outfit! It was really gross. Did you hear her explanation? She is awesomely weird.

Stac, I will just have to see how I feel. I'm not planning anything. Its too much pressure to do that. I am going with the flow and I plan on having a happy run.

From Kelli on Tue, Sep 14, 2010 at 21:56:30 from 71.219.102.155

Lady GaGa is a wee bit psychotic! And her explanation makes absolutely no sense at all. All of that aside, it would be extremely HEAVY to run in, I would not recommend it JD!

You guys and all of your clothes---WOW, now I am worried about what to wear! I did this race three years ago, was it that cold up there? Dang, I better get to thinking on what I can being up there to cover my shivering legs!

Wendy and i have matching skirts (I know, we are dorks! we did not buy them for the race, we just happen to both have them so we are going to wear them.) They are white with a bunch of flowers all over them. My tank is green, Wendy's is turquoise (or maybe pink , I can not remember what she wears with it!!) I will have on my knee high white compression socks and a white visor. Hmmm....what else? Who knows!?!

As far as RACING a marathon (or any race, for that matter), I think it is very important to run your own race. If you can stick together, go for it. If not, no worries! You had all of the fun training together, and one of you will meet the other at the finish. Just bring some good music and enjoy the ride. It is for sure a course that is easy to go out too fast on, BUT I do believe in taking advantage of the hills when you have them! You know your speed, just go with it.

Listen to me, thinking I am an expert! I never have a plan, I just RUN. But, in my non-professional opinion, that is the way to go. JUST GO WITH WHAT FEELS RIGHT! Wendy, on the other hand, likes a plan---so I have made one for her!

From Lysa on Wed, Sep 15, 2010 at 11:08:51 from 174.52.25.64

Kelli, you are going to look adorable! I wish I could pull off the skirt. It just doesn't work for me.

I plan on taking advantage of the hills to a point, but I do not plan on racing down them just bc I can. Probably about the same pace I ran down Millcreek Canyon. That felt effortless. That is what I'm going for. And you are an expert! I value your opinion and thoughts, you have done this many times and its good to talk to you. JD told me he remembers it being very cold at the top, that's why all the clothing. So where is this pizza place? Do you remember the name of it? What time are you guys getting there? And when are you going to the expo to pick up your packets?

From Kelli on Wed, Sep 15, 2010 at 14:27:48 from 71.219.102.155

The running for me is all about how cute I can look, YOU KNOW IT! I am a fan of the skirts for one reason ONLY----they have the best pockets. You can fit so much stuff in there (I carry 4 powerbar gels, some gu chomps, and my phone---at the beginning it makes my skirt fall down it is so heavy! But after a mile the sweat holds it up!)

We are bot leaving here until 3:30. I think we will go straight to the packet pick up and get that over with and then decide where to go to eat. Wendy is from Logan, so I just let her pick. She mentioned a few other pizza and ice cream places. If you guys want to join us, PM me a cell number and we will call you. If not, the place we went to for the half was Fredrico's and it was kind of up by the University.

I bet the start will be freezing! I just was not thinking about that!! I am glad I got to hear all about your layers or I would have forgotten how cold the canyon at 5 am can be. DA!!!

I like what you said about the hills---just go with it and make it feel effortless. I really think the smartest runners are the ones that go by feel. You will do great.

From allie on Wed, Sep 15, 2010 at 14:30:41 from 174.19.51.35

i will be wearing a tiger suit, chasing after JD.

From JD on Wed, Sep 15, 2010 at 15:34:13 from 70.96.78.157

Aahhhhhh!
