Short-Term Running Goals:

Maybe run a few more marathons?? Stay healthy, motivated and consistent.  Races are fun, but unlike the hokey pokey, its not what its all about for me.  Its about health, sanity and feeling great about myself bc I can call myself a runner. :)

Just tell me next time if you don't want to run with me. Ditcher.

OH MY GOSH! Calm down! I did not ditch you on purpose!! But btw, tomorrow I might. Only bc I'm going to Lion King tonight, won't be back until late and don't know if I want to get up at 6:30. I might go at 7:30. But that is not totally decided yet.

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 15:14:46 from 71.219.102.155

Have fun at Lion King!

Are you running Hobblecreek?

From Lysa on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 15:21:08 from 174.52.25.64

Yes I am! It falls into the training schedule my friend Stacie {on the blog}and I are on for our FIRST marathon! AAHHH TOU September 18th.. I can't believe that us runners are actually that crazy. There is seriously something wrong in our heads.

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 15:27:53 from 71.219.102.155

Dang, I wish I was going to be there to TRY and find you again!

I just told Stacie of the Black Toenail that I will be there pacing my friend through her first full marathon, too! We will have to find each other and at least say HI. What time are you two shooting for?

From Stacie on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 16:54:59 from 174.52.21.251

I was kidding Lysa.

Kelli my nail actually is not black it just feels bruised underneath. Does that mean there's hope? I don't have a blister that I know of. Maybe I should take my polish off to see if it's changing color.

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 17:25:28 from 71.219.102.155

For sure take the polish off and give it a look-see. I would see if you can poke a pin down there anyway, you may have a blister just not a blood blister. You do not have to go through the nail, just go in through the tippy-top of the nail (you know, where the nail leaves the skin? Does that make sense?) It will not hurt!! If you catch the blisters fast enough, there is ALWAYS hope! But come on, don't you want to lose a nail????

From Stacie on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 18:14:33 from 174.52.21.251

Not to brag, but I have cute feet and toenails. Huh Lys. Don't I have cute feet? I'm worried if I lose it it will never be the same. That and I guess I thought it would fall off quick, like before the new nail came in and so it would be painful to run. Maybe not though. I've talked to a few people (not real runners like here) who've lost other toe nails but never the big toe nail. Thanks so much for the advice. I'll try it. Just have to sacrifice a lot when you love running I guess:(

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 18:25:47 from 71.219.102.155

Oh, believe me, I mourn my cute feet. Most of the time I think nothing of it, but when I sit and stare at them at church in my cute sandal, it is very sad!!!!

From Lysa on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 18:45:39 from 174.52.25.64

Stacie, you have beautiful feet. Mine on the other hand are nasty. I have lost two toenails and have calluses that an electric sander could not take off. They are hot. I say, embrace the toe nail, embrace the runners feet and wear them with pride! You look Tough! {at least that's how I justify it}

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 20:50:12 from 71.219.102.155

I have lost all but one toenail, and more than one time! They are all gnarly! Be glad you do not have to see my feet.

From Stacie on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 21:37:34 from 174.52.21.251

Okay, so I'm realizing now that it's not bruising I'm feeling under this nail, it's gotta be a blister. Gonna take the polish off and try to poke a pin down there. I'm scared to do it! Wish me luck. Thanks so much Kelli!

From Stacie on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 00:41:37 from 174.52.21.251

Wow! I've never been so happy to see fluid in my life. It worked! I poked and then walked around a little and then noticed the fluid coming out around the toe. It still hurts but hopefully it will feel better soon. Would there be more than one blister? Thanks again.

From Kelli on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 19:31:26 from 71.219.102.155

I am sure it is just the one, but it will refill so make sure to pop it a few times a day and then wrap it up tight with a bandage!! Oh, and make sure the pin is clean!!! ;o)

Glad it worked and is feeling better!!! Good luck with keeping that toenail.
